No experience needed — just curiosity and a sense of adventure

Our RAID Try Dive is a full-day experience designed for first-time divers who want to see what scuba is all about without committing to a full certification course.

You’ll learn the basics, practice in the pool, and finish the day with two ocean dives at beginner-friendly sites around Koh Tao. The whole experience is guided, structured, and focused on safety. But more than anything, it’s a chance to see what it feels like to defy gravity while exploring Koh Tao’s colourful reefs.

What the Day Looks Like
Morning: Briefing and Pool Sessions

We start the day at 8am with a short theory session and a briefing on the gear you’ll be using. Once that’s done, we head to the pool where you’ll learn how to breathe underwater, use your gear, and stay safe during your dive.

Afternoon: Two Ocean Dives

After a lunch break, we head out with our dive boat for two dives at calm, shallow sites full of marine life. Your instructor will be by your side, helping you feel comfortable, stay safe, and make the most of your dives. You’ll be back at the dive center by around 5pm.

Frequently Asked Questions
  • What should I bring for my Try Dive with Hydronauts?
Bring swimwear, a towel, your phone for photos, and water to stay hydrated. We have a dry area on the boat where you can safely keep your belongings while you’re in the water.
  • What if I feel nervous before my first scuba dive?
Feeling nervous is completely normal, especially if it’s your first time diving. At Hydronauts, we start in the pool so you can get used to the gear and breathing underwater before heading into the ocean.
  • Do I need to know how to swim to try scuba diving with Hydronauts in Koh Tao?
Yes. For safety, you should be comfortable in the water and able to swim. Even though the Try Dive is fully guided by our Hydronauts instructors, basic swimming skills make your scuba diving experience much more enjoyable.
  • Will I get a scuba certification from a Try Dive?
No, the RAID Try Dive is a one-day scuba diving experience, not a certification course. If you enjoy it, you can continue straight into the RAID Open Water 20 course here at Hydronauts in Koh Tao.
  • Can I wear contact lenses or glasses while scuba diving?
Yes, most divers with soft contact lenses have no problem diving. If you wear glasses, you may need to consider contact lenses for the day.
  • Can I scuba dive if I have a medical condition?
Some conditions require medical clearance before diving. If you have any concerns, reach out and we’ll talk it through and guide you on the next steps.
